Secret and Clues
- [ ] Cagoth-ze is a powerful wizard but completely obsessed with acquiring knowledge of the elves who used to be here. The elves managed to hide their lore not in a place, but in a time, and that steered Cagoth-ze into the twisted practice of Time Magic. It’s amazing he hasn’t torn himself into pieces spread over thousands of years practicing this type of heretical magic.
- [ ] The resident alchemist who’s experimenting with the alchemist’s furnace is Danaska Maksilov. She was chased away from her home city of Khorsburg by a murderous
mob after an experiment gone awry released clouds of maddening vapor that rolled through the neighborhood and transformed livestock and household pets into
murderous oozes. As Maksilov fled westward, she heard rumors of the Scarlet Citadel and the legendary alchemical engine buried beneath it. She found the
furnace idle and ignored, and she persuaded Cagoth-ze to let her study it in exchange for potions that could calm the voices in his head (SC 174)
- [ ] The furnace in area 206 (pg 54) is drawing tremendous arcane power beyond any one wizard’s ability to control. The source of this power lies deeper in the citadel. The draw of power to this furnace is keeping this power tethered and strained. It’s like a knot in a tangle of ropes.
- [ ] The more the furnace is used, the worse the draw and twisting of the arcane energies that flow through these halls.
- [ ] The multiple nodes tying these lines of power together. Each must be disabled to release the tension of the ley lines.
- [ ] The dust goblins came from the Wasted West. Running away from one of the Dread Walkers Ones who wander the Wasted West. They found an old monument: a startouched necrotic ship of Kespotan the Dragon Lord of Stone (MWB 366).
- [ ] The dust goblins found themselves on a ghostly ship on an underground river that ended up in a old dwarven chamber filled with Trollkin and some nasty owlbears. They make their way up here, sneak around, and are looking to escape back to the surface.
- [ ] The dust goblins think they’re underneath the Wasted Wests but they’re actually very far away having been drawn by the river under the citadel.
