• Father was a devil, secretly, and disappeared back to the nine hells when he was born for reasons unknown
• Bracelet from father was what was lost, but since he relied on it for his ability to persevere, in some senses what he really lost was his hope
• He was tricked by a devil*, as a child who was already going down the path of a barbarian after surviving being hit by lightning into thinking a fellow child was a monster, which he killed. Village elders know he didn't knowingly murder him, but much of the Eladrin village thought so still, which is one of the reasons he left so young
